Rev. Dr. Jim Sherblom is an author, mystic, theologian, entrepreneur, investor, company creator and venture capitalist.  Jim holds a BA from Yale, MBA from Harvard, and Masters in Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Andover Newton Theological School.

Jim grew up in the middle of a very large, very poor family in Tiverton, RI. His acceptance to Yale brought this small town boy into a maelstrom.  Meeting and marrying his wife Loretta brought him transformed into the wider world.  After graduating with highest honors from Harvard Business School he began his career as a strategy consultant with Bain and Company working in Boston, London and Munich.

Jim was a founder of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council and served as its President.  His industry roles include serving as Senior Vice President and CFO of Genzyme Corporation and as Chairman and CEO of TSI Corporation.  As founding Managing Partner of Seaflower Ventures he has been involved in the creation of six biotechnology and healthcare companies and an early investor in at least 12 more.

At midlife he was called into divine mystery.  Through a series of vision quests and theological studies he emerged as a spiritual teacher, preacher, and friend of God.  He was called to parish ministry serving as Senior Minister at First Parish in Brookline, MA for eleven years.  Since retiring from parish ministry in late 2015 Jim devotes full time to his writing.

He mostly writes about spiritual matters, especially his travels with mystics, pilgrims and spiritual seekers.  He lives a transcendental existence in Concord, Massachusetts with his wife Loretta.  His favorite and most frequent deep spiritual practice consists of walking meditation in Walden Woods or around Walden Pond.  Jim and Loretta are the proud parents of two grown children.
